New Toys

Tis' the season..but unlike other seasons I have a few new toys to show off.

Sony Ericsson W810
The most recent is my new cell phone, the Sony Ericsson W810. It was time for an upgrade from my Samsung E317 flip phone and I decided to go all out. The W810 is a candy bar style phone similar to the Chocolate, sporting an mp3 player, 2mp camera, FM radio (i like this), and Pro Duo memory card support (i like this too).

I have to be honest, with all the heat Sony has been getting regarding the ps3 and faulty batteries I was pretty nervous when deciding to get this phone. However, the majority of the reviews for this phone have been good and after getting my hands on it I have to say that I'm very pleased.

The software the came with the phone kinda sucks, which was expected, but luckly I can transfer music, themes, ringtones, and wallpapers just by dragging files directly to the folders on both the mac and windows. The camera is probably the best I've seen on a phone and has most of the options that my Sony DSC-L1 (4.1mp) has. One feature that I stumbled upon was the SoS distress light. Where the light above the lens of the camera pulses the sos distress call. Normally I wouldn't care much for such a feature, but in light of recent events I'm kinda glad that they went out of the way to add it in there.

I love that this phone has an FM radio. I would always like to continue listening to my morning radio when I leave for work, but was unable too since I don't have a portable FM tuner. The mp3 player is great, not because its an mp3 player but due to the fact that the phone supports the pro duo memory sticks. I can put up to 2gigs into this thing (currenty at 1gig) and have a decent amount of music on me at all times, unlike other itunes players, which are also dependent on the itunes music store. With this I can add whatever I want in many different formats.

Sony may have dropped the ball with the ps3, but they didn't with this phone.

Nintendo Wii
I was luck to get my hands on one of these a week after launch and I have to say that "playing is definitely believing." I had about 3 entries worth of story telling on how I was able to get one of these but I opted to just give my review of the system in the end.

I started with Wii Sports after getting the console set up and online.
Tip: If you have trouble connecting to your router use the first of the 4 wep keys instead of the pass phrase you created.

Actually I lied :P. I started to create my Mii (digital representation of myself) which was pretty fun. After creating myself I jumped into Wii Sports and was amazed at how much fun it was. Note: If you pick up the Nintendo Wii definitely pick up and addition remote because this console screams multi player. I couldn't put it down and it was about three days before I touch the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Twilight shows off how well an action adventure game can be done on the Wii and after playing it for a while I felt kinda disspointed going back to my regular controls for my other console.

In the end the benefits of the Nintendo Wii definitely out weighs the cost of the unit, unlike that other system. :P
